Switzerland, the land of magical villages, hundreds of lakes, the Swiss Alps and endless amounts of mind blowing landscapes, is not only one of my favorite countries in the world, but also home to one of my all time favorite hotels in the world, Villa Honegg.
This five star boutique hotel situated at almost one thousand meters above Lake Lucerne offers the utmost luxury with its sweeping views of Lake Lucerne and the Swiss mountains, exemplary customer service, top of the line design and hotel amenities including the world famous infinity pool.
Located at the top of a mountain with only 23 exclusive rooms and a very welcoming and professional staff, Villa Honegg feels more like a private mansion then a hotel. Since the moment you walk in, you will feel the warm Honegg welcome, rather than feel like you are staying in any other hotel. The decoration from the lobby, to the restaurant and even the rooms is so luxurious yet so cozy that it will make you feel right at home.
Did I mention that they have Hermes toiletries?
Oh yes, and the best part is the views from our oversized balcony!
One of the main highlights of this property, and what has become an Instagram sensation, is its infinity pool. This world renowned infinity pool is the epitome of luxury, allowing you to relax while admiring the view high above Lake Lucerne nested in between the Swiss mountains, along with mountain valleys in the other side of the pool.
Not only is this view magical but the actual pool itself is also beautifully crafted all from stainless steel. Nothing less than perfection inside and out.
And the indoor pool has quite a nice view as well
We are travelers and nature lovers who love to discover infinity pools all over the world. Throughout our travels we have seen some of the most impressive pools in the world, but we have never seen anything like this pool in Villa Honegg. By far one of our favorite pools we have ever seen and one of the best ones we will ever see.
Our first day the sky was perfectly blue and the day was the most perfect day we could ask for, but for the next two days the weather changed completely and the whole property was covered by clouds, including the pool. We were very disappointed but decided to go to the pool anyway, and let me tell you, there is something quite special about swimming in the clouds.
To be completely honest, we visited this property because we saw a picture of the beautiful pool and immeditely decided to visit, so besides the pool, we had no expectations about the property.We were blown away by the property itself as well. Every little detail has been perfectly thought through, every staff member has been trained to perfection, and every thing has been made to the commodity of the guest. Our biggest surprise, however, is how kid friendly the hotel was. The impression that we had about the property was that it was more of a couples hotel that anything else, but we were surprised to see quite a bit of families during our stay. We say families with young children, couples, groups of friends, pretty much all the different crowds, and everyone was completely satisfied. The hotel even has a kids play room with a decent selection of toys that my little one was very happy to discover. For those with no kids or older kids, the hotel also offers a private cinema! And my little ones favorite part, they have robes and slippers for the kids as well so they dont feel left out 🙂
And off course the cigar room for the gentleman who still smoke
Do you believe this cozy spot is right next to the outdoor restaurant, so you can have food there if you wish!
The weather in Switzerland is very drastic, but dont worry if you were to get cold, the pool is perfectly heated and the hotel has these beautiful faux fur coats to keep you all warm and fuzzy.
Villa Honegg is the perfect getaway for everyone and at any time of the year! Our stay was one of the most magical stays we have ever experienced and worth every single swiss frank. If you plan on splurging and pampering yourself, this is the absolute best property to do so. You really get everything you pay for and more. The room rates are not inexpensive but also not too expensive that they are unaffordable. Breakfast, mini bar and snacks (fruit basket) by the pool are included with the room rate. Compared to other hotels in countries such as Italy or France, which offer nowhere near what this hotel offers and charge up to 3 times more, this property is a steal. If you are looking for the perfect birthday, honeymoon or anniversary trip, this is definitely the best place to celebrate.
We can not wait to return to this unique property again soon, and hope to do so during the winter next time!

I’ve only seen pictures of Villa Honegg’s infinity pool but the interior looks (and service sounds) equally impressive. This is definitely on the top of our list when we visit Switzerland one day! Even though there were other guests it’s awesome that you guys had the whole pool to yourselves! 🙂

Hi dear! We visited in August for 3 days and the weather was amazing the first day but then it got very cloudy for the rest of the time. Thats just how the weather is in Switzerland, its so drastic! You should definitely visit and wont regret it!
